Safeguarding Professional Community

Have you been searching for a safeguarding professional community, of like-minded professionals to expand on your safeguarding skills and networks?

Are you potentially feeling isolated as the safeguarding lead in your organisation, and want to explore how others approach systemic and cultural safeguarding issues?

Eligibility: This opportunity is for graduates of our Child Safety Officer Course, to build on existing knowledge, challenge perspectives and bias, apply theory to real life cases, and take safeguarding concepts to the next level.

Option A: Case study reviews

What is a case study review?

These virtual sessions review real-life publicised (external) safeguarding cases, drawing on learnings and providing opportunities to review safeguarding failures and prevention strategies. The case studies will be selected and prepared by Safeguarding Training Australia prior to the session.

How does it work?

Session will include groups of up to ten participants, all with significant safeguarding knowledge and experience, and guided by a safeguarding specialist. Case studies will be critically reviewed as a group.

How often will case study reviews occur?

Case study reviews will be conducted twice per year, and run for two hours each.

Cost: $375 (ex GST) per annum

Option B: Peer reflective practice groups

What is a peer reflective practice group?

Using de-identified (internal) organisational issues, challenges or cases (selected and prepared by participants prior to attending), these virtual sessions aim to promote reflective and critical thinking, provide support, workshop new approaches and help mitigate vicarious trauma.

How does it work?

Individuals will be placed in a small group (maximum of four) of like-minded professionals, with a qualified facilitator to guide the group through a supervised reflection of individual organisational safeguarding issues, challenges or cases. Confidentiality is to be maintained by group members.

How often will the reflective practice peer group sessions occur?

The sessions will be conducted quarterly (four times per year), and run for two hours each

(allowing for a total of 8 hours of reflective practice across the year).

Cost: $1,400 (ex GST) per annum
