Rights, empowerment and participation

Girl
How can we work with children and young people to build a child safe organisation?

Engaging children and young people in decision making, keeping them informed about child safeguarding strategies and involving them in identifying and mitigating risks are all important elements of being a child safe and child friendly organisation. Children and young people bring different perspectives to our child safeguarding initiatives and have a right to be involved in conversations and decisions that affect them.

What will we learn?

This session explores the levels of consultation and co-design, the benefits of sharing power with children and young people, the barriers, key principles of engagement, and case studies of initiatives and leading practice examples.
